Gugulipids have been used for 2500 years in India and researched since 1960 for cholesterol and obesity disorders. In India, it has been given prescription status, due to its high level of efficiency as determined by clinical studies. Gugulipids pull cholesterol out of the blood to make bile in the liver and increase thyroid activity to burn off cholesterol. Gugulipids also have anti-inflammatory capabilities equal to that of ibuprofen, which may carry over to the chronic inflammation of blood vessels in hardening of the arteries.
Studies in humans show gugu to drop cholesterol up to 27% and triglycerides by 30% in a 3 month trial. Gugu shows no adverse side effects or toxicity toward the liver, kidney, or heart, which is in sharp contrast to many prescriptions.
The flush fee niacin (inositol hexiniacinate) in this formula has been shown to lower lipoproteins and LDL (bad) cholesterol by 23%. Triglycerides and clotting factors also were reduced, while simultaneously raising good HDL cholesterol. The famed Coronary Drug Project demonstrated that niacin was the only cholesterol lowering agent to actually reduce mortality.
The chromium in this formula lowers insulin, reducing cholesterol synthesis and secondary effects of blood vessel inflammation. The ginger also decreases inflammation.
When taken in combination with Statin drugs, or blood thinners, these drugs may need to be reduced. Gugulplex may interfere with calcium channel blocker absorption if taken together.
